Apprenticeship Application
As part of the application process you will be required to upload the following:
Two (2) letters of recommendation from your employers. Recent graduates may submit letters of recommendation from school officials, teachers, etc.
Be sure to have your letters at the time of your submission as they are required.
Basic Requirements:
- Age
Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age before they may begin a career with the union. If you are currently 17 and set to graduate high school you can apply for apprenticeship and can begin your apprenticeship training at the school however you cannot work on a jobsite prior to the age of 18.
- Physical Ability
Applicant must be physically capable to perform the work of an ironworker.
Applicant will be subject to a physical agility or fitness test.
Math and detail accuracy assessment will be required.
A certified drug test will be required before final acceptance into the program (drug testing is at the program’s expense)
- Education
Applicant must, at minimum, be a high school graduate or have obtained a GED equivalency.
A copy of school transcript or GED records verifying the applicant’s graduation will be requested upon acceptance into the apprentice program.
- Jurisdiction
Applicants must live in the jurisdiction of Local 60 for at least six (6) months. Jurisdiction covers the following counties: Broome, Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, Tioga, Tompkins, and Townships with Chenango, Jefferson, Madison, Schulyer, Wayne.
